How to resize an image

  1. Add your pictures

Choose one or more JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF or BMP files, or drag them onto the page.

  2. Choose the size

Type a width or height in pixels, pick a percentage, or give a size in cm or inches. Tap a common size like 1080 × 1080 if you like. To meet an upload limit, turn on Keep each file under a size and type the KB.

  3. Download

Press Resize. Download one picture, or all of them in a ZIP.

About this tool

Phone photos are usually 3,000 to 4,000 pixels wide and 2 to 5 MB, far bigger than most websites, emails and forms need. Resizing makes them quicker to send and upload, and keeps them within the limits a site sets.

Keep the shape is on by default, so you only type the width or the height and the other side follows. Turn it off to set both: then choose whether to crop to fill, fit the whole picture inside with white edges, or stretch it.

Keep each file under a size saves each picture at the best quality that fits the KB you type. If even low quality is too big, the picture is made a little smaller in pixels too, and the result tells you. PNG keeps every pixel exactly, so it can't be squeezed; choose JPG or WebP to reach a small size.

For printing, choose Size in cm or inches and a quality in DPI (300 for photo prints). The file is saved with that DPI, so it prints at the size you chose.

Questions

How do I resize an image to 20 KB, 50 KB or 100 KB?

Add the picture, choose a size in pixels if the site asks for one, then turn on Keep each file under a size and type the KB, or tap 20 KB, 50 KB or 100 KB. Choose JPG. The tool keeps the sharpest version under that size.

Can I resize many pictures at once?

Yes. Add up to 200 pictures. They all get the same settings, keep their own shape, and download together in one ZIP.

Will resizing make my picture blurry?

Making a picture smaller keeps it sharp. Making it bigger than the original can't add detail, so it may look soft; the tool warns you before you resize.

How many pixels is 3.5 × 4.5 cm?

It depends on the DPI. At 300 DPI, 3.5 × 4.5 cm is about 413 × 531 pixels; at 200 DPI it's about 276 × 354. Choose Size in cm or inches and the tool works it out.

What happens to transparent PNG backgrounds?

They stay transparent if you save as PNG or WebP. JPG has no transparency, so those parts become white.

Are my pictures uploaded?

No. Resizing happens in your browser, on your own device. Your pictures are never sent anywhere.
