About this tool

Typing a password every time you open your own statements or reports gets tiresome. This tool saves an unlocked copy for files you're entitled to open, such as your own documents or ones sent to you with the password.

This tool does not guess or crack passwords. If you don't know the password, it can't help. Only unlock files you own or have permission to change.

Questions

Can you unlock a PDF if I've forgotten the password?

No. The tool only removes a password you enter. It doesn't try to guess passwords.

Some PDFs open fine but stop me printing or copying. Can I remove that?

Only with the document's permissions password, sometimes called the owner password, from whoever created the file.

Is my password sent anywhere?

No. The file is unlocked in your browser on your own device.

Is unlocking legal?

Removing a password from a file you own or have permission to change is fine. Don't use it on documents you aren't entitled to modify.
